This course examines Wealth, its creation in countries and how it is shared out between those who provide the necessary factors of production. It discusses the effects of taxation, causes of globalisation, economic disparity and slumps & booms, history and ethics.
Dogged by fundamentalisms, with mainstreams painfully divided, what is the future for religion? We shall be looking at possible scenarios, including the prospects for a renewed Christianity. Open to those of any faith or none!
We are continuing to look at great questions of philosophy (including ethics). Members will select topics to introduce and there will be group discussion.
We enjoy discussing the various approaches used to study Human Psychology, and we will continue our examination of the main topics, taking a more specific look at some of those that interest us. There is plenty of time for discussion and interaction.
Social Anthropology is the study of humankind. We will discover things about ourselves and our attitudes, whilst experiencing an understanding of other cultures. This year we will carry on relating Social Anthropology to: food, tourism, religion, medicine, cultural practices and everyday life.
An on-going programme of sociological topics, some of which we re-visit as circumstances change. Among those we aim to consider are: Homes/ Homelessness, Prisons and Town versus Country.
